Ocean Care has been founded in 2004 in order to help preserve the coral reefs and ocean surrounding St Maarten. Global and local pollution, combined with overdevelopment of the island is causing a rapid deterioration of St Maarten’s marine life. The environmental awareness foundation tries to raise awareness of the underwater life St Maarten still has, and hopes to change the way the ocean is seen by many so that future generations may also be allowed to enjoy its beauty.
